Today, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded regional Social Innovation in Central Asia program implemented by Eurasia Foundation, together with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Turkmenistan hosted a youth forum dedicated to ‘World Day against Trafficking in Persons’ with participation from 60 young leaders from different regions of Turkmenistan, and representatives from the Ministry of Sport and Youth Policy of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, the State Migration Services, public organizations, and international agencies.

Ilyas Kudratullaev, 25, is an ambitious budding entrepreneur from Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. He is one of over 7,000 young people from the country to benefit from USAID’s Enriching Youth for Tomorrow program, designed to prepare youth for the modern labor market and enable them to contribute to the local economy and their communities.

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) today inaugurated its Regional Water and Vulnerable Environment program in Turkmenistan. The five-year program covers the five countries of Central Asia and Afghanistan and will strengthen regional cooperation on the management of shared water resources in the Syr Darya and Amu Darya River basins.

As part of joint activities to prevent and control infectious diseases, the World Health Organization Country Office and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) mission in Turkmenistan have completed another step in establishing an electronic monitoring system for patients with viral hepatitis. In early 2021, the two organizations assisted specialists from the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan (MoH) in training health workers on the use of the electronic system, including both data entry and analysis.

Today, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Safe Migration in Central Asia activity and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, conducted the first online discussion on international best practices to introduce a Business Ombudsman in Turkmenistan that will oversee legal disputes on labor issues in the private sector.
