Country Overview

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is the largest bilateral donor in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Over the past 10 years, the American people have committed over $6 billion to the DRC.

Operating throughout the DRC, USAID delivers life-saving development and humanitarian assistance to advance health and education outcomes, protect the environment, support inclusive economic growth that benefits all citizens, and strengthen public institutions to better meet citizens’ needs.

To address immense challenges, such as food insecurity, fragile health systems, and gender-based violence (GBV), USAID partners with individuals, communities, and institutions to implement locally-led solutions that promote sustainable development.

USAID aims to build a more peaceful and prosperous DRC where communities and individuals can thrive.
