USAID, in partnership with the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan and local experts, concluded a series of four seminars and forums for government representatives, civil society, and entrepreneurs involved in waste management. The Government of Turkmenistan prioritizes waste management in the nation’s environmental protection and sustainable development strategies. To support the Government of Turkmenistan’s priorities, USAID has facilitated strategic discussions on new models of cooperation between municipalities, civil society and local entrepreneurs to reduce waste, increase recycling, and improve waste segregation and disposal mechanisms.

At today’s Export Facilitation Initiative event, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) announced a contest that offers a co-financing program to help Turkmenistan’s farmers to obtain GLOBALG.A.P. certification, as a key step towards exporting fresh horticultural products to premium international markets.
Today, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), in partnership with the local company “Orlan”, held the final event of the “Handmade Exports 2021” (HME) startup incubator program. The event featured a crafts exhibition of Turkmenistan’s finest artisans and a competition of ten program finalists, presenting their new businesses, products and progress achieved throughout the HME program to a panel of judges.
This week, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Governance Support Program, in partnership with the Hydrometeorology Service of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan and international experts, organized the second seminar on advanced automated meteorological measuring and information systems for weather forecasters in Ashgabat and Lebap. The Government of Turkmenistan is prioritizing the mitigation of climate change risks and the development of climate resilience strategies. USAID is proud to support the implementation of the country’s National Strategy on Climate Change by facilitating science and technology-based solutions and increasing the capacity of the government as well as citizens to adopt climate-friendly practices. In addition, this event is part of a series of USAID-supported interventions aimed at strengthening climate resilience in Turkmenistan.

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Safe Migration in Central Asia activity, implemented by Winrock International, partnered with government and non-governmental organizations across Central Asia to hold a month-long online campaign dedicated to Safer Internet Day, marked annually on February 08 to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology by children and young people around the world.

Today, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) marked the successful completion of its five-year, regional Competitiveness, Trade, and Jobs activity. The activity facilitated Central Asian exports and increased employment in horticulture, transport and logistics services, and tourism industries. The activity successfully increased competitiveness and expanded trade in these sectors within the region and beyond.

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Safe Migration in Central Asia activity, implemented by Winrock International, partnered with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Central Asia to hold a four-day online campaign dedicated to International Migrants Day, marked annually on December 18. The campaign shared stories of migrants to raise awareness on migrants’ rights. More than a dozen NGOs from Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan joined the online campaign to tell stories of migrants who improved their lives after returning home and receiving support from the USAID-funded Safe Migration in Central Asia activity.

Today, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)’s Governance Support Program, in partnership with the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (UIE), hosted a virtual seminar designed to support the development of the Ashgabat Stock Exchange and to attract investment in the country’s economy.
