From September 22-24, Deputy Chief of Mission Joel Maybury and United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission Director Jim Wright toured various U.S. Government- funded development projects in Margibi, Bong, and Nimba Counties. During the trip, they met with local government officials, community leaders, beneficiaries of USAID-supported projects, and exchange program alumni.

The United States is Committed to Helping Liberia Make Agriculture an Engine of Economic Growth

On Tuesday, August 31, the United States Agency for International Development Liberia Mission Director Jim Wright visited the Ministry of Agriculture where he discussed continued United States support for the agriculture sector.  Wright said, “Liberia is blessed with abundant fertile land, rainfall, and water resources that are critical to productivity in the agriculture sector.”  He added that the United States is committed to helping the Ministry fully use these resources to make “agriculture an engine of economic growth and job creation” for the Liberian people.

USAID Liberia Mission Director Jim Wright has lauded the Ministry of Internal Affairs for its role in Liberia’s fight against COVID-19.  In particular, he noted the Ministry’s successful use of local and traditional leaders to reach rural dwellers with COVID awareness and prevention messages and said the “US Government was committed to continue helping Liberia address the challenges posed by the pandemic.”
