Since 2000, USAID, through the Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance, has provided more than $30 million in disaster response, preparedness, and disaster risk reduction assistance in Vietnam. USAID continues to support Vietnam’s disaster relief efforts in partnership with the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VNRC) to address the immediate humanitarian needs of vulnerable communities in areas most affected by natural disasters while developing the capacity of critical VNRC provincial and community branches in emergency preparedness and response. USAID also provides support through the American Red Cross and its Community-Based Disaster Risk Management Consortium to strengthen the resilience and disaster preparedness and response of remote, at risk communities in the central of Vietnam.
