The United States, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), established the Agriculture Resilience Initiative - Ukraine (AGRI-Ukraine) to increase Ukrainian agriculture exports. The initiative supports Ukraine’s embattled agriculture sector, the bedrock of Ukraine’s economy, while simultaneously alleviating the global food security crisis exacerbated by Russia’s war on Ukraine. Developed in partnership with Ukraine’s Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, AGRI-Ukraine targets immediate and strategic longer-term agricultural production and urgent export challenges, while also fostering the recovery of Ukraine’s wider agricultural sector. USAID has invested over $350 million in AGRI-Ukraine and leveraged more than $250 million from the private sector and fellow donors, and has set a total AGRI-Ukraine investment target of $850 million.
