In support of a key Biden-Harris Administration priority, and the recently launched U.S. Strategy on Countering Corruption, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has launched a new five-year anti-corruption project to help Indonesia combat corruption by boosting civic engagement and promoting a culture of integrity in the public and private sectors.
The up to $9.9 million USAID project will help the Government of Indonesia address corruption by empowering local civil society to tackle systemic corruption vulnerabilities and conflicts of interest in planning and procurement procedures. The project will also strengthen the Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission (Indonesian: Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi, or KPK) to promote accountability and transparency and confront corruption. It aligns with the Government of Indonesia’s shift in focus from corruption prosecution and enforcement to prevention.
USAID is partnering with local Indonesian organization Kemitraan (English: Partnership for Governance Reform) to implement this project, which builds on decades of U.S. Government partnership with the Government of Indonesia, private sector, and the Indonesian people to address corruption in Indonesia.
