New $25 Million will Provide Emergency Food and Agricultural Recovery for Southern Madagascar

U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Amy Hyatt has announced an additional $25 million dollars in emergency assistance to help alleviate the crisis in Southern Madagascar. The money is provided through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on behalf of the American people and will fund four projects that will support agricultural recovery and feed people in southern Madagascar. An estimated 1.3 million people in the region are struggling with food insecurity. The lean season has just begun and access to food is expected to remain limited until at least April 2022.

U.S. Government Assistance Provides Shelter and Clean Water to Those Affected by Cyclone Batsirai

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), on behalf of the American people, is rolling out the first in a series of planned activities to help those affected by Cyclone Batsirai.  USAID is providing humanitarian funding to the non-governmental organization CARE to furnish temporary housing, clean water, and basic household items for 1,500 people currently living in evacuation sites.
