Notice: Government Lapse in Appropriations

On the evening of January 25, 2019, the President signed a continuing resolution. All employees who were on furlough due to the absence of appropriations may now return to work. USAID is reopening offices in a prompt and orderly manner. Click here for updated information.

We are all passionately dedicated to the USAID mission. Right now, I know performing that mission is more difficult. The lapse in appropriations is unsettling, and some of you are experiencing hardship and uncertainty. You and your families are in our thoughts each day. We appreciate all that you do and recognize that you would like nothing more than to get back to work. As the lapse in appropriations continues, I will regularly reach out to you. Read more.

Guidance for USAID Personnel:

Federal agencies are beginning to serve the second round of furlough letters to their employees. We will provide the furlough notices and any additional updates no later than Tuesday, January 22, 2019, assuming no appropriations bill is enacted to end the lapse. Thank you for your patience and your service.
