USAID awarded grants to six exceptional Kosovan youths committed to making a positive and lasting impact in their diverse communities. These grants facilitate the implementation of community projects that were initiated as part of the Youth Exchange Program - a partnership between USAID and the Youth Initiative for Human Rights (YIHR).

The Youth Exchange Program follows a comprehensive four-phase approach, commencing with a one-week residential activity. During this time, 30 youth from both the Kosovo Albanian and Kosovo Serbian communities are provided with a unique opportunity to share their experiences, ideas, and opinions. The program focuses on fostering transitional justice, honing negotiation skills, and addressing challenges through intercultural dialogue. Additionally, professional trainers conduct supplementary training sessions and facilitate exchanges, ensuring that the participants are well-prepared.

One of the primary focuses of the training is the development of an extensive social media and advocacy campaign. This campaign serves as a powerful tool to promote the participants as ambassadors of peacebuilding. It empowers them, giving them a sense of ownership and legitimacy as leaders of change within their communities, ultimately aiding the successful implementation of the grant initiatives.

Importantly, the program has been meticulously designed to keep all participants actively engaged throughout the implementation of the activity, emphasizing the establishment of strong connections between the youth. Moreover, it provides them with a platform to voice their thoughts and opinions within their respective communities. This inclusive approach ensures that the program not only creates a sense of unity among the participants but also empowers them to become influential leaders and catalysts for positive change.
