MIKA Soft, an online platform designed to facilitate production, logistics processes, and human resources management, is transforming Kosovo's wood sector. Developed through a partnership between USAID's Compete Activity and the Kosovo-based tech company BBROS, MIKA has slashed operations costs for many wood companies while leading to remarkable increases in performance ranging between 35 and 40 percent, according to the managers.

The platform organizes operations throughout production, provides accurate transportation services, delivers punctual notifications that update users on the status of shipments, and helps businesses identify points of weakness and potential solutions.  “It completely digitalizes the sector as a solution and significantly reduces expenses on a large scale, while simultaneously increasing efficiency” says BBROS CEO Arbër Bakija.

Needless to say, the platform has been a hit with local businesses. “We are thrilled with the MIKA platform!” says Anita Zekaj, a sales manager at Mobile Dekor, who has been using Mike for more than a year now.  “It revolutionized our operations in both the factory and showrooms. With its real-time data, we no longer need to track down employees to check on processes. Now, everything we need is just a click away, making our workflow smoother than ever before.

This unique platform was initially implemented in five wood processing companies and recently extended its services to another ten. USAID/Kosovo has been a steadfast supporter of the wood industry since 2004 and remains dedicated to bolstering the sector comprehensively, enhancing its competitiveness, and forging new connections and export pathways. “It completely digitalizes the sector as a solution and significantly reduces expenses on a large scale, while simultaneously increasing efficiency” says Arbër Bakija, CEO of BBROS, an ICT company who developed the platform.
