Durbar to Commemorate 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence

On December 7, 2022, the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, and the Fisheries Commission, in partnership with the United States Government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), held a durbar to commemorate 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV), a global campaign which seeks to end violence against women and girls. 

United States Provides $35 Million to Ministry of Local Government to improve essential service delivery in four regions of northern Ghana

On November 30, 2022, the Acting Deputy Mission Director for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Ghana, Mr. Paul Pleva, joined the Honorable Collins Ntim, Deputy Minister of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development (MoLGDRD) and the Upper West Regional Minister Hafiz Bin Salih, to launch the new $35 million Resilience in Northern Ghana (RING) II partnership. 

U.S. Government- Supports Healthy Behaviors in Ghana through Ebony Condom Launch

U.S. government support for family planning and sexual and reproductive health culminated in bringing a new, affordable and safe condom to the Ghanaian market.  With funding from the U.S. government, Total Family Health Organization, a Ghanaian social marketing organization introduced its newest product in a suite of health commodities - the Ebony condom.

U.S. and Ghana Working Together to Provide New Agricultural Financing

  • October 11, 2022

The U.S. Government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development, and the Ghana Ministry of Food and Agriculture are working together to help more Ghanaian farmers access needed financing.  Earlier today, the U.S. Government and Ghana convened more than 400 stakeholders at  the Ghana Agribusiness Investment Summit to discuss current challenges and support new financing partnerships.

U.S. Government Partners With The Government Of Ghana To Scale Up Reading Programs Nationally

  • August 30, 2022

On August 30, 2022, U.S. Ambassador Virginia Palmer joined the Hon. Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum to mark the handing over of 3.7 million additional Basic 1 to Basic 3 English teaching and learning materials, including supplementary readers to the Ministry for Education.  The materials will reach over 11,000 schools which have not already received the materials. The materials are designed to enable teachers to deliver engaging and effective reading lessons and improve pupils’ ability to read.

U.S. Announces Emergency Fertilizer Assistance For Smallholder Farmers

  • September 14, 2022

The U.S. Government formally kicked off a $2.5 million initiative through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to ensure 100,000 smallholder farmers in Ghana receive affordable fertilizer for this planting season. During her visit to Ghana’s Bono East Region, USAID Mission Director Kimberly Rosen announced new support to help Ghanaian farmers shore up the nation’s food security, in light of global food security concerns.

USAID, NASA, And Partners Develop Workplan For The Second Phase Of SERVIR In West Africa

  • September 5, 2022

Geospatial experts from West Africa (Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali, Niger, Nigeria and Senegal), Rwanda and the United States of America are meeting from August 29 to September 2 in Saly, Senegal to plan the implementation of the second phase of SERVIR West Africa. SERVIR West Africa is one of five regional hubs that connect space to the village by helping developing countries use satellite data to address critical challenges in agriculture and food security, water resources, weather and climate, land use, and disaster prevention or management.
