U.S. Supports $25 Million Boost in Lending to Agricultural Sector in Ghana

The United States Government has partnered with two Ghanaian financial institutions, Absa Bank Ghana and Opportunity International Savings and Loans, to support $25 million in new financing for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Ghana’s agricultural sector.

The Ambassadors of the United States, Japan, and the Republic of Korea to Ghana, announced a historic partnership, at an event hosted by Ghana’s Minister of Health, Honorable Kwaku Agyeman-Manu yesterday. This agreement between the United States, Japan, and the Republic of Korea supports Ghana’s goal of Universal Health Coverage.

U.S. Commits $14 Million For Basic Education in Northern Ghana

Lucky Trip, the Ghanaian reality TV series that engages young people with entertaining education, is back for Season 3.  In partnership with the United States Government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Ghana Health Service, CFAO by Suzuki, and Lifebuoy, this season features fifteen of Ghana’s beloved celebrities, including luminaries like James Gardiner, Roselyn Ngissah, David Osei, and Elikem the Tailor.

On Friday, President Biden announced 10-year plans for implementing the U.S. Strategy to Prevent Conflict and Promote Stability in partnership with Haiti, Libya, Mozambique, Papua New Guinea, and Coastal West Africa, including Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, and Togo. These plans represent a commitment to global peace and security, with the United States working alongside an array of local partners toward shared, long-term goals of conflict prevention and peacebuilding.

Statement by Administrator Samantha Power: On Friday, President Biden sent to Congress 10-year plans to implement the U.S. Strategy to Prevent Conflict and Promote Stability with partners around the world: Haiti, Libya, Mozambique, Papua New Guinea, and the Coastal West African countries of Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, and Togo. These plans offer a roadmap, tailored to each country, of sustained, coordinated actions that will help address the root causes of conflict and build peace. USAID is eager to implement these plans in close partnership with our U.S. government partners, our partner country governments, and the local leaders and stakeholders who are best positioned to drive effective and long-term change in their communities.
