DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES: NOV 30 – DEC 12, 2023 – The 28th Conference of the Parties to the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) will bring together countries from around the world to increase ambition, implement existing goals, and strengthen commitments.

The United States is committed to working with global partners to increase climate ambition and ensure strong outcomes at COP28. In order to avoid the worst impacts of the climate crisis, countries must implement their existing commitments expeditiously, and make the additional commitments needed to keep the 1.5 degrees Celsius goal within reach and ensure a safe and sustainable future for all.

Administrator Power Travels to COP28

Administrator Power travels to Dubai, United Arab Emirates to attend the 28th Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28). While there, the Administrator will highlight the progress USAID has made in addressing the climate crisis.

U.S. Center at COP28

The U.S. Center is the location for showcasing U.S. climate leadership at COP28. The U.S. Center will feature a full schedule of events throughout the two weeks of COP28 and will feature a diversity of sectors, issue areas, perspectives, and experiences that are informing global action and the implementation of climate solutions. Events will be livestreamed and recorded.

Update on PREPARE Call to Action to the Private Sector

FACT SHEET, DEC 2023 – At COP28 in Dubai, USAID Administrator Samantha Power and Special Presidential Envoy for Climate (SPEC) John Kerry announced that 21 companies and partners have made new commitments to invest in climate adaptation as part of the Call to Action to the Private Sector under the President’s Emergency Plan for Adaptation and Resilience (PREPARE). Their efforts, in support of the objectives of PREPARE, will mobilize an estimated $2.3 billion in additional adaptation finance.
