Press Release

On July 27, the United States provided $14.5 million in support to the East Jerusalem Hospital Network (EJHN) as it continues to provide necessary and life-saving treatments to tens of thousands of Palestinians. This funding is the first installment of the up to $100 million commitment announced by President Joseph R. Biden during his visit to the region.

The EJHN provides services for Palestinians that they cannot access in the West Bank and Gaza. With this assistance, USAID supports continued and uninterrupted advanced health care services to Palestinians. These include highly specialized medical services, such as pediatric cardiac surgery, cardiac catheterization, nephrology, ophthalmology, neurosurgery and cancer treatment. This builds on USAID’s historic support to EJHN of over $90 million since 2014.

USAID is committed to improving the lives of the Palestinian people to lay the foundation for an eventual two-state solution. In addition to supporting EJHN, USAID supports the Palestinian health sector in its COVID-19 response efforts, including by facilitating the U.S donation of over one million vaccines via COVAX.
