In Vietnam, many health care professionals at smaller facilities have limited expertise in reading tuberculosis (TB) x-rays, missing positive cases. To improve skills in chest X-ray reading, USAID and the National TB Program organized two training courses in August in nine high-TB-burden provinces. More than 250 doctors and radiography technicians from public and private health facilities improve their skills, raising TB case detection from an average of 4 out of 10 correct readings to 8 out of 10. This work will be followed by specialized training courses for pediatric TB radiography.

By improving radiography skills, USAID is increasing healthcare professionals' ability to correctly diagnose TB cases, contributing to ending the disease by 2035.
