To strengthen the market for HIV products and services in Vietnam, USAID is collaborating with Abbott Rapid Diagnostics and BioLytical Laboratories to facilitate market registration, entry, and growth for new self testing products. USAID facilitated dialogue between both manufacturers, Vietnam’s Administration of HIV/AIDS Control, and the Ministry of Health to expedite the review and approval processes and to provide manufacturers with insights on the self testing market in the country.
On August 21st these advocacy efforts led to the Ministry of Health approving the registration of both of these manufacturer’s HIV Self Tests, increasing the number of tests on the market, ensuring that the public has access to a diverse set of testing options, and improving the awareness of HIV infections in Vietnam.
