According to provincial data, most of the severely disabled people in Tay Ninh and Dong Nai provinces lack appropriate devices essential for their daily activities. USAID’s Disabilities Rights Enforcement, Coordination and Therapies (DIRECT) project, in coordination with local health providers, works to conduct clinical assessments and prescribe rehabilitation support and assistive devices tailored to the specific needs of each disabled person. From May 18 - 22, 57 PWDs received custom-made assistive devices and rehabilitation services. Follow-up care and services for these beneficiaries will be conducted by rehabilitation specialists and local hospitals over the next three years.

So What? By enhancing the mobility and quality of life of persons with severe disabilities, USAID is helping PWDs to integrate themselves into society. To date, over 4,500 PWDs in Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, and Binh Phuoc provinces have benefited from this USAID project.
