Many health care workers in Vietnam lack sufficient clinical care skills and the ability to manage infections within their facilities to stop the spread of COVID-19. To address these gaps, USAID's Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) project is partnering with Hanoi Medical University Hospital and the Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy to train thousands of health care workers, policymakers, administrators, and hospital staff on clinical case management and infection prevention and control. On February 18, USAID/Vietnam Mission Director Ann Marie Yastishock honored leaders from the two university partners during a roundtable discussion in Ho Chi Minh City. Dr. Huynh Minh Tuan from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy and Dr. Nguyen Lan Hieu, Director of Hanoi Medical University Hospital, shared information about their technical assistance portfolio supported by USAID. They praised USAID leadership and support, and expressed appreciation for the close collaboration between USAID and provinces to deliver robust training programs on clinical case management and infection prevention and control.

USAID’s support is enabling thousands of clinicians to receive training that builds their skills in COVID-19 response and their ability to protect themselves and patients through improved infection prevention and control.
