Community based forest patrols fill a vital role in monitoring protected areas in Vietnam while working in hazardous conditions removing poacher’s snares and rescuing wildlife. Recently, USAID provided patrols from Cat Tien National Park, Bidoup-Nui Ba National Park, Da Nhim Protection Forest, Dong Giang, and Tay Giang Protection Forest with training on safety protocols and wildlife identification to lower their risk of injury while protecting forests.

This work improves the effectiveness of community based forest patrols, fostering positive relationships between community members and conservation workers.
