Chest x-rays (CXR) are extremely effective in diagnosing patients thought to have TB, but radiography expertise is limited in some healthcare facilities. USAID partnered with Vietnam’s National Tuberculosis Program to publish a training manual to increase the capacity of health care professionals to identify TB in CXR images and refer those patients for further testing. Copies were provided to all provinces in Vietnam, and the book is available online.
The manual improves healthcare professionals' ability to detect TB early, increasing a patient's chances for a successful recovery and lowering the risk of transmitting the disease to others.
