Established in 2017, FUV is still in early stages of growth as well as currently utilizing a temporary campus. On July 14, the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) approved the financial commitment of $37 million via a 20-year direct loan to support the Phase I construction of a permanent campus, comprising accommodations, academic buildings, and dining and recreation facilities for up to 1,500 students. FUV’s campus will be built in the Saigon High-Tech Park on a 15 hectare parcel of land donated to the university by the Government of Vietnam. The campus will be the most environmentally advanced education complex in Vietnam and will serve as a living sustainability laboratory for students, faculty and the interested public.

The DFC investment complements USAID’s ongoing assistance to FUV to enhance student enrollment, strengthen academic and research excellence, and achieve financial sustainability.  FUV is in the vanguard of Vietnam’s efforts to reform higher education as the country’s first fully independent, non-profit liberal arts university.
