In Vietnam, persons with disabilities face barriers in accessing public buildings and transportation, limiting their access to health care, social services, and a greater role in the community. On the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, USAID supported a running event in Hue City to raise awareness and increase the inclusion of persons with disabilities in sports and social activities. The event attracted over 5,000 runners, including persons with disabilities.
This event was supported by local disability advocacy counterparts and the private sector, promoting collaboration between these two groups that have an influence in the community to increase equal opportunities for persons with disabilities.
