Vietnam’s 2020 Law on Environmental Protection requires factories in Vietnam to make their environmental monitoring data available to local authorities and the public. Often this information is not available in a digital format, making it challenging for communities to monitor pollutants discharged from factories. USAID partnered with Sustainable Trade Initiative and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to develop the Transparent Environmental Data Disclosure Platform (TEDP), an online reporting tool for businesses to disclose their environmental data.

USAID worked with Adidas sports apparel company to train their producers on using the TEDP. Adidas produces 40% of their products in Vietnam and by leveraging their influence on production in Vietnam, the TEDP will be used by more factories, increasing compliance with environmental laws.
