Despite being one the world's most biodiverse countries, Vietnam is experiencing a staggering loss of wildlife. One of the significant drivers behind the alarming decline of its wildlife is the high demand from consumers for wildlife meat and wildlife products. USAID’s Biodiversity Conservation project engaged businesses that run more than 20 stores and shopping malls in 6 priority provinces and cities nationwide in a social behavior change campaign to raise public awareness of the health risks from eating wildlife meat. The campaign’s message (translation: Once wild meat is on the dining table, risks are exposed) was communicated prominently in these stores and shopping malls and also online platforms managed by these businesses.

Engaging the private sector in communications efforts like this will contribute to changing individual behaviors and social norms about consuming wildlife meat, thereby supporting the conservation of wildlife and biodiversity in Vietnam.
