USAID forges U.S.-Vietnamese university partnership to continue strengthening economic governance training post-USAID assistance

To avoid the middle income trap, Vietnam continues to make strides in its efforts to shift its economy into higher value-added activities within global value chains. This has prompted the need to modernize training institutions for government officials.

USAID Supports Vietnam’s Innovation and Digital Transformation in the Public Sector

As part of the efforts to strengthen Vietnamese provincial official capacity, USAID’s Strengthening Provincial Capacity (SPC) activity recently helped the School of Government, University of Economic Ho Chi Minh City (SOG-UEH), develop a short executive training course on Innovation and Digital Transformation in the public sector. The objective of the course was to provide foundational knowledge for Vietnamese government officials in the development and implementation of digital transformation strategies in their provinces. In particular, the course, developed through a partnership with Portland State University (PSU), provided international standards and best practices of key digitization factors such as innovation motivation, inclusive development, cybersecurity, privacy, data sharing, etc.

USAID Supports Gender Equity and Social Inclusion

The USAID Strengthening Provincial Capacity project conducted a Gender Equity and Social Inclusion Mainstreaming training workshop for lecturers and trainers of the School of Government of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City on March 18-19. This training program provided guidance  to trainers and lecturers, who will in turn incorporate the learned concepts into their classes and training programs for current and future government officials. The workshop provided the opportunity to share their practical experience, identify critical solutions, and learn more about how and why to promote awareness and understanding of gender and inclusion issues into their training curriculum.
