The United States government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), celebrated Tunisian women in honor of International Women’s Day and recognized their substantial efforts to improve the socio-economic situation of the country.

On March 16, 2021, USAID’s "Tunisia Jobs, Opportunities and Business Success (JOBS)" program organized a virtual event, “Women Entrepreneurs Mentoring one-on-one Initiative”, which introduced successful businesswomen to women entrepreneurs. At this event, mentors shared business expertise, best practices, and knowledge on how to successfully grow a business.

USAID's Tunisia JOBS program has facilitated the creation of over 10,400 jobs for women. In the webinar women business owners and women entrepreneurs shared the many ways U.S. government assistance supports their enterprises.

USAID Mission Director, Peter Riley, welcomed the participants at the event, “As Tunisia’s partner, the United States Government is committed to support women’s efforts. USAID’s programs empower women to reinforce their position as an essential pillar of Tunisia’s economy. We see them as an important asset for Tunisia’s economic recovery. Tunisian women are self-confident, resilient, and dedicated, and we want to provide them with better business and employment opportunities.”

This initiative is part of the United States government commitment to accelerate and expand economic and employment opportunities for Tunisian women.
