Administrator Samantha Power Interview With Nicolette Mashile on Financial Bunny

  • December 19, 2022

Well, as you know well, there are many stereotypes about Africa. There's a lot of lumping of one country with another country, one community with another. But one of my favorite expressions is “get close.” Once you actually get out past the capital into a particular community or down sitting with a farmer, looking at how the drought is affecting, you know, that farmers yield for the moment, or talking to a farmer when they just got back from the shop where they were hoping to buy fertilizer and they can only now buy half the fertilizer they were planning on buying.

USAID Deputy Administrator Paloma Adams-Allen At The Second Annual Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI)/ LatinX Conference And Career Expo

  • October 20, 2022

Good morning everybody. ¡Buenos dias, todos! It’s great to be with all of you today – hello to the folks in the room, to the folks online – on the final day of USAID’s second annual Hispanic Serving Institutions Conference and Career Expo, fittingly titled “Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger World.”

Administrator Power at Tuskegee University Memorandum of Understanding Signing Ceremony

  • January 31, 2022

We are at Tuskegee to sign a historic MOU today because together, we hope to provide answers to the impoverished and marginalized farmers of our generation, just as Washington and Carver did in theirs. The faculty and students here at Tuskegee have the expertise to help hundreds of millions of smallholder farmers, most of them women and most of them African, who currently toil, to escape the grips of hunger and poverty. Because we at USAID understand what has long helped fuel the mission on this campus: growth in agriculture is nearly four times more effective in reducing poverty than growth in other sectors.

Administrator Samantha Power at the Swearing-in Ceremony for Incoming USAID Mission Director for Southern Africa Andy Karas

  • August 20, 2021

Good morning, afternoon, and evening, to everyone tuning in all around the world. A special welcome to Andy’s mother-in-law who has come all the way from Liberia, I believe, and has joined Andy, his mother, and his daughters there.

Administrator Samantha Power at the Swearing-in Ceremony for Veeraya Kate Somvongsiri Incoming USAID Mission Director for Tanzania

  • July 19, 2021

Thank you, Diana, and to my esteemed colleagues participating in today’s ceremony––outgoing Mission Director Karas, Ambassador Wright, Chargé d’affaires Jean Msabila, I’m glad we could be together virtually to swear in our current Deputy as our new Mission Director to Tanzania.

Remarks by Acting Mission Director Christine Djondo at the Launch of Gender-Based Violence Training for Students and Educators

On behalf of the United States Government, thank you all for joining us to launch these training efforts, which mark an important step forward in addressing gender-based violence and supporting safe learning environments. Gender-based violence remains a grave reality for countless women and youth in Tanzania and around the world, affecting victims regardless of socioeconomic status or background.

Remarks for the Launch of Tanzania's National Chimpanzee Conservation Action Plan

On behalf of the U.S. Government, I am delighted to be here.  I would first like to say “Hongereni sana” to the Minister and his team for the commitment that has resulted in the National Chimpanzee Conservation Action Plan for Tanzania.
