While making significant strides in improving the health status of Tanzanians, challenges continue to exist in health service delivery to citizens. Changing demographics and evolving health characteristics differ widely across and within geographies, support and tracking of patients within the continuum of care is complex and has limitations, disease-centric and fragmented services continue to dominate, comprehensive knowledge of HIV prevention has declined, and women and youth are underserved populations. To address these gaps, the USAID Afya Yangu Southern Program aims at supporting the Government of Tanzania to deliver high quality integrated HIV and TB prevention care and treatment services that will improve health outcomes, particularly for youth and children.
