The United States Government, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), has committed $ 8 million in alliance with the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) to support Venezuelans migrants and refugees and low- income local residents in Peru. 

The project will begin in June 2020 and extend through May 2023.

This assistance will be implemented through the Economic Inclusion Project to support the efforts of USAID, the Government of Peru, and humanitarian organizations such as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), to assist Venezuelan migrants and low-income local residents in Peru achieve socio economic security.  Activities will focus on increasing access to finance, assisting new and existing entrepreneurs, and facilitating access to opportunities for employment. 

To implement the project, WOCCU has partnered with Federación de Cooperativas de Ahorro y Crédito (FENACREP) and HIAS, Inc. These organizations bring unique expertise to support the project in achieving goals to increase entrepreneurship, employment, and access to financial services. The project will also deploy a robust grants facility to reach and integrate local organizations into program activities, as well as to provide support through seed grants to individual entrepreneurs.
