USAID in alliance with the NGO Partners in Health donated a new medicinal oxygen generating plant which will be installed in the Belén Hospital in Trujillo, in the La Libertad region.

The United States is committed to strengthening the Peruvian health system and jointly facing the health emergency caused by COVID-19, joining the efforts being made by La Libertad Regional Health Management and the Ministry of Health.

With an investment of approximately 100,000 dollars, the new oxygen plant has the capacity to produce 20 cubic meters of oxygen per hour, a scenario that will strengthen and improve the hospital response to diagnosed cases of COVID-19.  More than 36,000 people who require oxygen treatment throughout the La Libertad region will benefit from the implementation of the new oxygen plant.

“The People of the United States are partners with Peru in the fight to curb the impact and mitigate the effects of COVID-19. On this occasion, through USAID and Partners in Health, donate this medicinal oxygen plant with the objective of improving the hospital's response capacity to care for patients affected by the pandemic, at an opportune moment like the current one in which the country is facing the third wave" said Mike Junge, Director of the Regional Office of Contracts and Agreements of USAID in Peru.
