USAID Peru delegation visited the indigenous community of Huitoto in Centro Arenal, Loreto, in the Peruvian Amazon.

They spoke with the leaders of Aidesep (Interethnic Association for the Development of the Peruvian Rainforest) and Orpio Aidesep (Regional Organization of the Indigenous Peoples of the East), about the challenges that environmental defenders face to protect their land. Community members showed the delegation how they use drones and cell phone technology to monitor their indigenous territories.

They have received support from Rainforest Foundation, and USAID to be better prepared to confront environmental crimes.
