Today, Administrator Samantha Power met with International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) President Peter Maurer to discuss humanitarian emergencies around the world, as well as the COVID-19 pandemic. Administrator Power thanked President Maurer for ICRC’s dedication to providing humanitarian assistance in conflict-affected areas and continued partnership on shared humanitarian priorities.
During their meeting, Administrator Power discussed USAID and ICRC’s shared commitment to push for unfettered access to vulnerable populations, in conflict and crisis situations, to ensure the timely delivery of life-saving assistance. Administrator Power thanked President Maurer for ICRC’s leadership advocating for equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines, especially for the millions of people living through conflict and armed violence.
