Today, Administrator Samantha Power met with Indian Ambassador to the United States Taranjit Singh Sandhu. Administrator Power and Ambassador Sandhu discussed the latest developments in Ukraine, the urgent need for a ceasefire, and efforts to support the people of Ukraine in the wake of Russia's unprovoked invasion. Administrator Power thanked the Ambassador for India's commitment to providing humanitarian assistance, and expressed the United States’ concern for the welfare of Indian nationals who have been evacuated from Ukraine during the course of the war. Administrator Power and Ambassador Sandhu also discussed responding to the global threats posed by Russia’s war in Ukraine, including to food and energy security.

Administrator Power and Ambassador Sandhu discussed how India and the U.S. can continue supporting efforts to increase global COVID-19 vaccination rates, and collaboration on efforts to harness digital technology to advance global development. In addition, they discussed progress on the U.S.-India Gandhi-King Development Foundation.
