Today, Administrator Samantha Power met with Vietnam’s Minister for Planning and Investment (MPI) Nguyễn Chí Dũng. The two leaders expressed mutual appreciation and continued support for the U.S.-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and efforts to accelerate progress in meeting shared commitments, particularly related to higher education and developing a more advanced economy in Vietnam. Administrator Power reinforced wider U.S. government interest in Vietnam’s semiconductors industry and in strengthening Vietnam’s ecosystem for innovation. Administrator Power also emphasized the importance of respect for human rights in the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and the vital role that non-governmental and civil society organizations will play in Vietnam’s development.

MPI Minister Dung is in Washington D.C. to lead the Vietnamese delegation to the first annual U.S.-Vietnam Economic Dialogue as part of the U.S.-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
