Today, Administrator Samantha Power spoke with Israel’s Ambassador to the United States Michael Herzog. Administrator Power raised concerns about the humanitarian situation in Gaza including food insecurity, water, and inadequate shelters. Administrator Power and Ambassador Herzog spoke about the urgent need to improve the deconfliction process to protect civilians and humanitarian workers. They discussed ongoing cooperation and potential solutions to address challenges to the distribution of humanitarian assistance in Gaza, including opening additional routes, scaling up the amount of assistance, and measures to improve safety for humanitarian workers. Administrator Power and Ambassador Herzog also discussed the importance of continued U.S. funding to support its ally Israel and to address humanitarian suffering in Gaza.
