Press Release

The below is attributable to Spokesperson Rebecca Chalif:‎

On December 15, Administrator Power and Deputy Administrator Coleman met with representatives from the International Crisis Group to discuss the current humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. They discussed ways to mobilize donors and the international community as well as current challenges - and solutions - to delivering assistance to support the basic needs of vulnerable Afghans. The United States is a longstanding supporter of the Afghan people and continues to serve as the largest single provider of humanitarian assistance in the country.

Administrator Power and Deputy Administrator Coleman reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to the Afghan people and recognized the importance of remaining in sync with other donors on continued humanitarian support for Afghans, especially for women and girls and other vulnerable groups.
