Today, Administrator Samantha Power met with Australia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Penny Wong. The Administrator and Minister were joined by U.S. Ambassador to Australia Caroline Kennedy. Administrator Power welcomed Minister Wong and their shared vision for a strong and resilient Indo-Pacific region, and highlighted areas where the United States and Australia could further work together, including bolstering nations’ resilience to climate change and supporting a free and independent media.

The Administrator also noted USAID and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s joint interest in supporting collaboration and coordination in the Pacific Islands region, including in disaster preparedness and climate resilience and adaptation.
