Press Release

The below is attributable to Spokesperson Rebecca Chalif:‎

Today, Administrator Power met with Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova to discuss the United States’ ongoing support to Ukraine in the wake of the Russian Federation’s invasion. She emphasized that the U.S. shares the Ukrainian government’s concern that humanitarian assistance must quickly reach those in need, both inside and outside of Ukraine. The two discussed innovative and streamlined ways for assistance to be delivered, particularly to areas closer to ongoing hostilities. The Ambassador and Administrator discussed the range of ways that Ukrainian government systems, the Ukrainian private sector, and local NGOs are facilitating such aid.

During the meeting, Ambassador Markarova and Administrator Power also discussed the Ukrainian government’s current and short-term budgetary needs in order to continue delivering essential services. The Ambassador expressed her nation’s gratitude for the generosity of the United States, while also noting that as Russia’s brutal war continues, the Ukrainian government and people will continue to require additional support.
