The below is attributable to Spokesperson Jessica Jennings:‎

Today, Administrator Samantha Power met with Mostafa Terrab, Chairman and CEO of OCP Group, a leading global fertilizer provider.

Administrator Power and Mr. Terrab discussed OCP’s contribution of 550,000 metric tons of donated and discounted fertilizer that will help smallholder farmers in 20 countries in sub-Saharan Africa and the company’s recent commitment to double its supply of fertilizer to Africa to about four million metric tons over the next year. They discussed ways to work together to more efficiently and expansively target fertilizer to smallholder farmers to mitigate the impacts of the global fertilizer and food security crisis. They also discussed how to create broader alignment between OCP’s holistic suite of activities across the fertilizer value chain and Feed the Future programming, including working together on the customization of both fertilizer and fertilizer use to meet the unique needs of farmers.
