Approximately 90 percent of the buildings in Dominica were damaged or destroyed due to the effects of Hurricane Maria, according to Pacific Disaster Center estimates. Damaged homes and infrastructure are inhibiting returns to areas of origin, as well as the resumption of livelihood activities across the country, the UN reports.

Migrant And Refugee Human Rights Protection Project (MRHRPP) is a $673,301, two-and-a-half year activity to support the implementation of the international human rights standards and refugee law in Macedonia.

The five-year, $9.4 million, Civic Engagement Project is USAID/Macedonia’s flagship program for strengthening dialogue between citizens and government on important social issues.  

The five-year, $1.7 million Readers Are Leaders (RAL) project is USAID/Macedonia’s principal activity in the basic education arena and part of USAID’s overarching goal of helping strengthen civil society, media, political processes, and ethnic integration in Macedonia. RAL is implemented through a grant to the Foundation for Education and Cultural Initiatives Step by Step–MK.

The primary goal of the program is to increase citizens’ access to independent and reliable information and empower them to engage in well-informed public discussion of important issues of the day. The program support focuses on commercial media outlets and community radio stations.

The Revenue Generation for Governance and Growth (RG3) project is to build the capacity of targeted Government of Liberia (GOL) institutions, particularly the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) and the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), to improve domestic revenue mobilization in Liberia. RG3 will support the MFDP to develop the capacity to formulate sound, predictable, and fair revenue policies. It will also support the LRA to enhance its ability to effectively, efficiently, and transparently implement those policies and carry out is revenue collection mandate

USAID/Liberia works to help Liberia build the institutions and processes essential to consolidating its democratic gains by providing support for, among other things, the transparent and accountable management of public resources, civil service reforms, free and fair elections, the rule of law, domestic resource mobilization, decentralization, stronger civil society organizations, and a more professional media sector

Microfinance Inclusion and Innovation is a three-year, $1.4 million, regionally-funded program to improve access to financial products tailored to the needs of low income households, entrepreneurs, and medium and small enterprises in Western Balkan countries, with the goal of creating new jobs, galvanizing economic growth, and reducing poverty.  A higher level objective is helping move Macedonia toward convergence with EU accession criteria.

The Government of Nigeria (GoN) Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MoARD), in partnership with the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), UN World Food Program (WFP), and other relief agencies, recently released an updated Cadre Harmonisé report—a multi-sector food security and nutrition analysis—for 16 Nigerian states and the Federal Capital Territory.
