USAID is helping to renovate nearly a third of all Lebanese public schools. It is also purchasing science lab equipment for every one of the 256 public secondary schools in the country to meet Ministry of Education-established standards. Other initiatives include increasing learning opportunities through in-service teacher training and extracurricular activities and increasing stakeholder engagement in public schools.
Our impacts in this sector include:
- Rehabilitation of one hundred and fifty-four public schools throughout Lebanon, bringing the total to one hundred and eighty-three public schools rehabilitated in 2011 and 2012.
- Training of 75 English-speaking teacher trainers from the Ministry of Education on the methodologies of teaching the subjects of English, science, and math.
