Kosovo Transmission System and Market Operator (KOSTT), in cooperation with USAID, organized a three-day session on energy market development and integration.  Representatives from KOSTT, Ministry of Economy, Kosovo Energy Corporation, and Kosovo Electricity Supply Company joined the session.  The forum provided the participants with first-hand knowledge of how the liberalized energy market in Central Europe and the Nordic region works with lessons for Kosovo.

A main topic of discussion was exploring ways that KOSTT could fulfill the requirements of its Connection Agreement with the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) and implement the best EU standards for the electricity market.  Anders Houmoller, an energy market expert with more than 25 years of experience, shared lessons from establishing the Danish power exchange

Many participants expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to exchange experiences and get acquainted with the best European practices for developing and integrating the electricity market.  Through its Public Relations and Communications Manager, the CEO of KOSTT conveyed that the sessions were an added value to KOSTT as it undertakes activities to fulfill its obligations to ENTSO-E.

This was one in a series of events as part of a partnership between USAID and KOSTT.  USAID’s Kosovo Energy Sustainable Activity will work with KOSTT to strengthen Kosovo's electricity market during the coming years.
