The opinion and perspective of young people are essential for the comprehensive improvement of their neighborhood. They have led data collection processes, have designed and planned improvement actions, and have empowered themselves and strengthened their leadership. Young people are key to disaster risk reduction.

Between 2018 and 2022, the Barrio Mío Scale Up Project, BMSU, worked on strategies to transform high-risk urban settlements into resilient, safe and productive neighborhoods, developing in residents the capacity to respond to urban disasters through innovative methodologies and strategies. replicable and scalable, in Amatitlán, Guatemala, Mixco, San Miguel Petapa, Santa Catarina Pinula, Villa Canales and Villa Nueva.
