In March 2023, USAID/OTI partnered with Asociación Mujer Tejedora del Desarrollo (AMUTED) to train 16 community midwives on therapeutic healing to support women victims of violence in Salcajá and how to collaborate with official mechanisms to report and attend violence cases. Following the training, midwives were able to immediately put their enhanced skills and knowledge into practice by working with a group of 15 victims of violence identified by AMUTED. This approach has also sensitized the community about the knowledge and support midwives can provide to attend to cases of violence against women. The midwives now use this knowledge acquired in the USAID/OTI training to address violence cases in their community through a complaint route that involves official institutions and can provide a comprehensive approach to the women victims' healing process.
