The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Guatemala conducted a diagnosis of the Guatemalan energy sector through USAID's Scaling Up Renewable Energy (SURE) program, implemented by Tetra Tech. The purpose of this diagnosis was to collect information that serve as the basis for future assistance from the United States Government, which will help build an efficient, financially viable, inclusive and environmentally sustainable energy sector aligned with the priorities of the Government of Guatemala.
