The Foundational Elements for Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Programming in Development is a practical, multi-part resource that supports USAID’s collective responsibility to address GBV. The Foundational Elements provide simple guidance for USAID staff and implementing partners to strengthen USAID’s efforts to prevent and respond to GBV at each phase of the Agency’s program cycle and across sectors. Available in Arabic, French, and Spanish, the Foundational Elements include program elements for 12 sectors, “how to” notes on specific topics, and focused guidance on specific forms of GBV, including an implementation plan to address child, early, and forced marriage and unions.
