In August, U.S. Ambassador Lynne Tracy and USAID/Armenia Mission Director Deborah Grieser visited the Republican Center for Humanitarian Assistance and met with Director Davit Altunyan, Deputy Minister of Health Lena Nanushyan and Acting UNICEF Representative Liv Elin Indreiten to discuss how USAID’s emergency health assistance is supporting the COVID-19 response in Armenia.  USAID, through its partner UNICEF Armenia, has provided the following to help Armenia fight COVID-19:

  • 10,000 reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests, reducing the testing time from five hours to 75 minutes;
  • 40 oxygen concentrators (with co-funding from the Asian Development Bank);
  • COVID-19 related public educational and training materials as well as job aids on child care for healthcare providers; and
  • Training of than 550 health care providers on infant and young child care during the COVID-19 pandemic.
