Since its establishment in 2022, the Commercial Court has provided a welcoming gateway for Kosovo's investors, delivering timely, professional, and transparent dispute resolution services. The Commercial Court's inaugural year has been nothing short of exceptional. It inherited approximately 10,000 legacy cases from across the country and received an additional 3,800 newly filed cases within its first year.

Despite the substantial caseload it inherited, the court achieved an impressive clearance rate of 113%, successfully resolving 4,312 cases during the year—more cases than the number of new ones received. This remarkable performance is even more significant considering that the court operated for the entire year with fewer than the legally mandated number of judges and only a small percentage of planned support staff. The USAID Commercial Justice Activity has played a pivotal role in providing extensive support to the Commercial Court, helping it become a high-functioning institution that excels in effective service delivery and promoting people-centered justice.

The impact on Kosovo's private sector is palpable. Atdhe Dika, a commercial attorney stated, "We were pleasantly surprised to witness the revival and swift resolution of many old cases that had been stagnant for years. We're highly satisfied with the outcomes achieved so far," he concluded.

The success of the court significantly contributes to bolstering Kosovo's economy and society. A more predictable and stable business environment is vital for attracting investments and generating employment opportunities. Efficient dispute resolution also reduces the overall cost of conducting business in Kosovo.

USAID takes immense pride in acknowledging the dedication and hard work of the Commercial Court and remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting the development of a robust and independent judiciary in Kosovo.
