Years after its implementation concluded, the USAID Basic Education Program continues to generate success for Mr. Hajriz Rashiti, a teacher at the Naim Frasheri school in Lipjan municipality. As a result of the skills and talents he developed through the earlier USAID program, Mr. Hajriz Rashiti, a teacher of Information, Communication Technology (ICT), along with his students, has been selected to participate in the Genius Olympiad 2023 in New York, USA, this June.
Mr. Rashiti actively participated in the Basic Education Program’s Design Challenge Competition, and he has since used this experience to initiate numerous other projects that engage his students and promote their development of relevant skills. This commitment led to his involvement in various national and international competitions, resulting in 25 awards during the past 10 years.
“Thanks to the support of USAID, I have had the opportunity to work on approximately 60 projects with my students. Through the generous donation of equipment [by USAID], my students were able to engage in project work and participate in competitions. As I approach retirement next year, I am proud to have achieved this success with my students and leave with a sense of satisfaction." said Teacher Hajrizi.
The USAID Basic Education Program, a five-year initiative that concluded in July 2016, successfully enhanced the capacity of schools to equip students with essential skills, which is fundamental to workforce competencies and long-term economic growth. Rashiti’s success is a lasting testament to the positive impact of the USAID-supported Design Challenge Competition and the Basic Education Program in Kosovo. His participation in the Genius Olympiad 2023 not only highlights the long term achievements of the program but has also inspired future generations of Kosovo students to pursue their passions and develop their skills.
