A recent Citizen Perception Survey demonstrated a marked increase in citizens' awareness about the quality of the municipal services provided and vulnerabilities to corruption of municipal procurement process, compared to the previous year, especially in eight USAID Kosovo Municipal Integrity partner municipalities.  The survey also showed a 4.11 percent increase in citizens' trust in their local government, a 3 percent increase in the satisfaction with services provided, and a 3 percent decrease in citizens' perception of a high level of corruption in their respective municipalities.

These results are promising for USAID’s efforts to help partner municipalities, including Gjakova, Peja, Vushtrri, Gjilan, Rahovec, Pristina, Lipjan and Suhareka, to implement best practices for budget and project planning, which will improve transparency in public procurement, contract management, and the delivery of services for citizens. USAID Kosovo Municipal Integrity Initiative, which started last year, is striving to reduce corruption and poor-quality public service delivery by reinforcing accountability mechanisms within and outside the government through civil society, the private sector, and media.
